Zelda U may Feature Multiplayer, says Aonuma

Zelda U E3 2014

For years upon years, fans of the Legend of Zelda have largely tackled dungeons and brain-wrenching puzzles alone–with the exception of the two Zelda: Fours Swords titles that is. Now, Eiji Aonuma of Nintendo plans to fix that. In an interview with gameinformer, Aonuma said that multiplayer in the next Zelda title is more than possible and is in desperate need of implementation, but fans will need to wait for a year or so  before we hear any more on this:

“The two-player functionality of Hyrule Warriors is actually something that has traditionally been done in the Dynasty Warriors series, but they’ve changed because of the hardware and the second screen on your GamePad. Instead of having a splitscreen on the television, you have one-player playing on the television and one on the GamePad. When I was talking back about making Zelda more than just a single-player experience? That’s something you will see in the future, maybe next year.”

If I recall correctly, Zelda U was also slated for release in 2015. This hint can’t be any clearer. I’m almost 100% sure that this means we’ll be seeing multiplayer in the game. What do you think? Do you even want multiplayer in Zelda U? Why or why not? I’d love to know! Make your thoughts known in the comments section below!
