Yo-Kai Watch Named Most-Popular Animation Among Japanese Children

Yo-Kai Watch 2

For the first time ever, a Bandai Entertainment poll has determined that the Yo-Kai Watch franchise is the most popular animation among Japanese children. For the last 13 years, that honor has fallen to Anpanman, a Japanese children’s television staple.

The poll itself ranks characters or brands as voted by the parents of children ages 0-12. Based on over 800 votes, the top three results include:

  1. Yo-kai Watch: 19.9 percent
  2. Anpanman: 12.9 percent
  3. Frozen: 5.3 percent

The Yo-Kai Watch franchise has been available since 2012, encompassing games, anime, toys, and more. In that time, it has earned over $1 billion in Japan alone. It will begin its international roll-out this holiday with it’s first 3DS game, as developed by Level-5 and published by Nintendo.
