The Man Named Bowser: Nintendo’s Newest VP of Sales

Nintendo has just hired their newest team member, Doug Bowser, as their Vice President of Sales. He hails from Electronic Arts where he was the VP of Global Business Planning, and before that worked at Procter & Gamble.

In a press release, Nintendo got all the obvious “Bowser” jokes out of the way, saying that Doug Bowser is not related to the King of Koopas.

Nintendo of America has hired a new Vice President to lead the United States sales organization with a name that’s well-known in the Mushroom Kingdom. Effective today, Doug Bowser (no relation to the King Koopa and Mario’s longtime nemesis) will oversee a variety of sales-related functions, including Sales, In-store Merchandising, Retail Strategy and Retail Marketing.

In case you’re curious about Scott Moffit, the Executive VP of Sales and Marketing, he’s still around. He’ll be Doug Bowser’s boss effectively (a final boss, if you will), and he is justly proud of the new hire.

Doug Bowser is an outstanding addition to our Nintendo team, as he brings a deep blend of both consumer package goods and video game sales experience. I know he will work tirelessly with our internal and external partners to ensure the broad Nintendo product lineup of hardware, software and accessories are strongly represented throughout U.S. retail points of distribution.

We should expect to see Doug Bowser in future Nintendo Directs and press events, where he will besmirch his surname a million times over.
