HomeNewsStrange New Nintendo Device Approved By Korean RRA Joey Burns April 19, 2014 News NeoGAF user “catmario” discovered a strange new Nintendo device approved by Korea RRA. It’s official description lists it as a “Compact Video Player”, But it’s model number,”WIS-009″, is what’s most interesting. Nintendo devices follow a specific system for model numbers. The first part denotes the system and the number denotes the part or accessory for the system. For example “WUP-010” is the Wii U GamePad, “NES-001” is the NES itself and “DOL-017” is the Gamecube’s GameBoy Player. This system also applies for cables, controllers, or just about anything else that could be used with a Nintendo system. This new “WIS” prefix tells us that this new device is most likely not an add-on for the Wii U, 3DS, or any current Nintendo platform. It seems most likely that this “Compact Video Player” could be some kind of tablet device. Probably the first result of Nintendo’s new “Quality Of Life” business platform. It’s definitely interesting seeing as Korea has generally gotten the short end of the stick from Nintendo. You can check out the NeoGAF thread here. And the Korean RRA page here!
