Splatoon Slosher

July’s NPD results are now live, with LEGO Jurassic Park topping the charts. According to Venture Beat’s report, industry sales are up overall from the same period last year. Nintendo’s Splatoon may have dropped out of the top 10, but continues to perform well. The shooter has sold over half a million units across North America since launch. Splatoon has crossed 1.6 million units worldwide, with strong numbers out of Japan. According to Nintendo, Splatoon has driven Wii U hardware sales up 10% over the same time last year. Meanwhile, 3DS family numbers are up 35% up in the first seven months of 2015 compared to 2014.

The Top 10 of software sales includes very little Nintendo presence, with multi-platform games like LEGO Jurassic Park and FIFA 2015 representing the 3DS, Wii U, and Wii.

  2. Batman: Arkham Knight (PS4, Xbox One, PC)
  3. Minecraft (360, PS3 ,Xbox One, PS4)
  4. Grand Theft Auto V (PS4, Xbox One, 360, PS3, PC)

Once again, no numbers were given by Nintendo regarding Wii U and 3DS sales, leaving only speculation about how well they are doing in relation to the market led by PS4 and Xbox One.
