Spikey Walls Review (Wii U eShop)

“Spikey Walls” is a simple game where you play as an annoyed rock with wings attempting to get past many spikey walls ahead of it which the game is aptly named for.

You start up the game by tapping the play button and then click the “A” button frequently to keep your self afloat. Make sure to just tap enough to get through those openings between the “spikey walls” and not hit them. One of my complaints with this is that you can’t tap the gamepad’s screen itself but only the “A” button.

Your goal in this game is to get past as many “spikey walls” as you can. Avoid those spikes and you’ll earn a point for every wall you pass. This requires attention and full focus to pass your previous high scores. This will get repetive though as you play for longer periods of time and that repetitive nature is brought out even more with the single music track playing in a loop. Also having the same background the entire time and no other sounds play dull down this game. Some type of sound for when you “fly” or lose would have helped at least a little bit. Of the same effect some type of visual effect could at least liven up the game a bit as well.

After hearing about this game you may be thinking it’s quite similar to another game that came out not to long ago which it is exactly, but if this is the type of game you’re looking to play on the Wii U (or maybe you just want to beat my high score) you’ll get exactly what you expect.
