HomeNewsSonic Boom: Fire & Ice Delayed Into 2016 Alex Irish September 16, 2015 News Sonic Boom‘s 3DS follow-up Fire & Ice has seen an unceremonious delay into 2016. No new release date was given, but the game was originally slated for a November release, one year following the release of Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal. The official SEGA blog explained that, “in order to make sure the game has the time and polish needed, we’re moving it out into 2016. No exact window from us, just yet – it’ll be ready when it’s ready!” “In the grand scheme of things, while the downside is that you won’t be playing the game this year, the upside is that what you’ll play next year, and what fans will continue to play for years after they pick up the game, will be a stronger, more enjoyable experience,” they continued. “We think that’s important, not just for this one game, but for all future Sonic titles. Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal and especially Rise of Lyric on Wii U got a mixed-to-negative reception last fall (Rise of Lyric has a 32 on Metacritic.) SEGA has put much hope into Sonic Boom being a major spin-off franchise for Sonic, so a delay of the next chapter will have much to improve on the flaws of its predecessors.
