Six More amiibos Join the Battle!

Amiibo Cross-game compatibility

Nintendo’s been touting their new line of amiibo NFC figurines for months now, but, starting November 21st, they’ll finally be available to purchase at most retailers.

The first wave boasts twelve combatants ranging from Nintendo mainstays like Mario and Donkey Kong to newcomers like the Villager and Wii Fit Trainer. The recently announced second wave will be available this December and include Zelda, Diddy Kong, Little Mac, Pit, Captain Falcon, and a very special Green Mario variation. Take a look for yourself:

Utilizing the NFC tech in the Wii U GamePad, fans can transfer their amiibos’ data from title to title, “providing fresh game-play experiences and a great value for consumers,” according to Nintendo. These amiibos will be fully functional with a whole slew of upcoming Wii U titles like Mario Party 10, Yoshi’s Wooly World, and also that fighting-game-thing with Sonic and Pac-Man–can’t remember the name of it, but I think it’s on 3DS too? Oh well, you’re probably not too keen on that sort of a thing anyways.

In more good news, amiibos will also be compatible with previously released software like Mario Kart 8 in some capacity down the road, but no specific ETA on that functionality has been announced just yet.

Sound off your amiibo of choice in the comments below! Maybe Green Mario is listening…
