Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse Slips Into October

WayForward’s spunky seductress Shantae has been sort of missing in action since her rousing Kickstarter success last year, but that’s bound to change this October with Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse.

The half-genie’s oft-delayed 3DS outing was first announced via Nintendo Power back in 2012, so yeah, it’s been a while. WayForward began pushing the game further and further back in order to improve its polish, and you can’t really blame the studio for wanting to ensure quality work. No sense in putting out a rushed product, right, Miyamoto?

While the 3DS is still the lead platform, it was also revealed this summer that there will be a Wii U version of Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse. Obviously ports take additional resources and time to develop, but hey, now you can watch dem hips sway on a big ol’ TV or on the go–that’s neat.

No word on a firm release date yet, but Shantae fans can rest assured that there will be some serious belly dancing and hair-whipping in the not-so-distant future.
