HomeNewsSakurai Plans “Several More Characters” for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U & 3DS Trace Wysaske June 25, 2015 News Masahiro Sakurai in his Weekly Famitsu column shared some tidbits regarding the remainder of DLC for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS, which will include “several more characters” before everything wraps up completely. While some folks were worried that the recent DLC characters Lucas, Roy, and series newcomer Ryu were a part of the Smash Bros. Fighter Ballot, Sakurai made sure to note that these characters were planned for inclusion well before the poll’s announcement. In other words, don’t worry, everyone: Shrek and Goku still have a fighting chance. Whew! Furthermore, Sakurai expressed that his dev team can’t work on Smash indefinitely: “From now until the end it is going to be fan service, but I can’t keep the development team together forever so there’s only going to be several more characters. I also ask for your patience, as we need time to develop more content. There may be unforeseen circumstances that arise as well, but I’ll try my best!” Look, the dude’s put forth an unprecedented amount of effort towards making this installment of Smash Bros. the biggest, baddest, and most comprehensive entry to date, so the fact that he’s not planning any more content after the development of the ballot winner isn’t too shocking. Expected, even. Seriously, go take a vacation or something, Sakurai. God knows you need one.
