Sakurai: Little Mac Has the Lowest Smash Bros. Win Ratio

Little Mac Smash Bros. 4

Woah…that was unexpected. According to Smash Bros. series creator Masahiro Sakurai, Little Mac has the lowest win ratio out of any other fighter in the roster. Ouch.

“For Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the individual character win ratios lined up nicely in a staircase format, but one fighter [for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS] has a significantly low ratio.” wrote Sakurai in his weekly Famitsu column.”It’s Little Mac.”

Turns out this highly controversial character often called OP by some folks can be killed pretty easily. “Little Mac is a fighter with very pronounced strengths and weaknesses. While he has an enhanced dodge and megaton-level punch for aggressive play, he has very weak jump power and a simple back throw along with a follow-up attack prove to be crippling,” wrote Sakurai.

Sakurai also spoke up on why he thinks Little Mac is such a popular character.

“It appears that the biggest reason for his low win ratio is because people fall under the assumption that ‘Little Mac is strong!’ and all rush to use him only to get pummeled in return.”

“He gives the impression of being able to win easier than other fighters which leads to more people using him, but in reality, he’s a difficult character to actually continuously win with.”

It isn’t yet known whether the upcoming Smash Bros. patch will change Little Mac in any way (Rosalina has seen some changes), but if he sees some changes, let’s just hope it doesn’t make his air game any better.
