Rumor: LEGO Preparing Toys-to-Life Game Called ‘LEGO Dimensions’

Ever since Activision and developer Toys for Bob struck gold with 2011’s Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure, the toys-to-life category has exploded into a lucrative market. Disney and Nintendo among others have joined the field with Disney Infinity and amiibo respectively, and now a new competitor may be approaching.

According to VideoGamer.com, Traveler’s Tales is working on a toys-to-life game called LEGO Dimensions. LEGO publisher Warner Bros. has yet to comment on the matter, but Traveler’s Tales producer told VideoGamer that “although I can’t go into any specific details now, rest assured that is the case and we’re always trying to push the boundaries. So watch this space.”

An NFC LEGO game makes a great deal of financial sense, as the toys and video games have a long-time convergence. Don’t be surprised to hear an announcement in the near future, but it only remains a rumor for now.

What do you think of a toys-to-life game based on the ultimate toy of LEGO? Tell all in the comments, whether your wallet weeps or not.
