HomeNewsReggie Fils-Aime All But Confirms NX is a Home Console Alex Irish June 20, 2015 News, E3 During E3’s Digital Event, Nintendo of America’s Reggie Fils-Aime was surprisingly forthright to reference Nintendo’s upcoming NX. Despite this, it will not be shown off until next year. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal. he may have inadvertently confirmed the NX is going to be a home console, and not a handheld or “hybrid device”. With reference to the poor performance of Wii U in relation to its competitors, he said: From a Nintendo perspective, we clearly have strength here in the Americas, we have strength in Europe and we have strength in Japan,” Fils-Aime said. “That isn’t necessarily true of some of our more direct competitors. We’ve also said publicly that we are already hard at work on our next home console and that’s another element we’ll be talking about much later. As much as statements have been lost in translation with regards to Nintendo lately, Reggie’s quote holds no such ambiguity. If this statement holds water, and Nintendo doesn’t rush to deny what Reggie said, we will see the Wii U’s successor in 2016. Hopefully, it won’t be called “Wii- something” by then.
