Real-Life Pokémon EXPO Gym Opening in Japan

The dream of a real-life Pokémon gym will soon become a reality in Japan. Starting November 19th, the Pokémon EXPO Gym will open in Osaka, but rather than simply foster Pokémon battles, it will be an edutainment facility. Fans will get to learn, play, and partake in training programs focused on Pokémon.

Special Pokémon will be distributed for players of the 3DS Pokémon series (X,Y, Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire) including Charizard, Smeargle, Machamp, and Zoroark.

Fans living in Japan will be able to pre-order their “Pokémon EXPO Gym Member’s Card & Pass Case” beginning October 31st at the Pokémon Center store in (where else) Osaka. There will also be a companion app for smartphones in conjunction with the EXPO Gym, the “Pokémon EXPO Gym Gear” app which shows participants’ stats and rankings.
