PSA: Wii U Deluxe Digital Promotion Ending Soon

Wii U Deluxe Digital Promotion

Thanks to a friendly reminder from our friends at Operation Rainfall, we are here to remind you that the Wii U Deluxe Digital Promotion is almost over. That means the best time to buy a Wii U is NOW! If you want to get it at a reat price and have digital games you plan to buy, now is the time to do it. If you obtained a Deluxe edition Wii U, you have until the end of this month. Note that this does not apply to the Basic model.

Even if you have not “purchased” $50 worth games in the Wii U eShop, there is a good chance that you have accumulated points if you participated in things like Nintendo’s Mario Kart 8 Club Nintendo promotion. It wasn’t advertised but that was certainly a nice bonus. This is because you earn points based off downloads from the Wii U eShop at the value they were at. This means if you got a game at a discounted price, you get the roughly 10% of points back of your purchase, not 10% of the full price. If you think about it, if you use your redeemed code and buy something with it on the Wii U eShop, then you get 50 points back. So one $50 purchase can net you potentially 550 points roughly immediately (555 total). I actually completely forgot about this promotion so to go back and see the points I racked up was a sweet deal. If you have no points, then Donkey Kong Country Returns: Tropical Freeze will get you pretty close to the free $5 code.

[NOTE] The deadline for earning points in the Deluxe Digital Promotion is December 31, 2014. Only eligible purchases or eligible download codes used in Nintendo eShop for Wii U before December 31, 2014 will qualify for this promotion. The deadline to exchange your points for an activation code is March 31, 2015. Source Nintendo
