PSA: Peach, Yoshi, and Donkey Kong Amiibo Now Priced at $9.99

Since their release in November 2014, the amiibo line has retailed for a standard $13.99, with the occasional sale from multiple retailers. Collectors have had their eyes on the entire line, but what of the casual consumer? Perhaps hoping to entice newcomers and clear unsold inventory, Nintendo has officially discounted the price of three Super Smash Bros. amiibo. Donkey Kong, Yoshi, and Peach now retail at $9.99 each, the first official price drop for amiibo.

These three could only be described as “commons” in the amiibo line. As mentioned before, this price drop signals the need to clear retail shelves of unsold figures. But there’s another possibility behind the shrewd move: Mario Party 10. Not only does this Wii U-exclusive launch on March 20th, but so does the next line of amiibo figures, specifically the Super Mario line. This includes new Peach and Yoshi figures, along with an unannounced Donkey Kong figure among others. Nintendo needs to clear out the old, and bring in the new, as they say.

Nintendo’s Japanese website for Mario Party 10 pretty much spilled the beans on Donkey Kong’s new amiibo

Will you be picking up any or all of these discounted amiibo? Were you one of the collectors who picked them up a long time ago? Let us know in the comments.
