Preview: The Legend of Zelda Majora’s Mask 3D

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, with the kids jingle belling and everyone tell- oh wait Christmas is over and that can only mean one thing, Majora’s Mask 3D is almost here!  I’m sure that almost anyone who owns a 3DS is hyped for this game and tons of people who don’t have a 3DS want one just for it.  We got our hands on a copy of the game and I can assure you that anyone who is a fan of the original won’t be disappointed. The game has also become very approachable for anyone new as well.

Among the new additions to Majora’s Mask on 3DS is the sheikah stone within the clock tower where the mask salesman resides.  I never got the chance to play the game as a kid so I’m not sure what it was like on the N64, but it seems like it would’ve been pretty confusing for a 10 year old to try and beat this game without any help.  The sheikah stone lets you crawl inside and view a log of what quests you should be completing and the things you’ve missed in certain areas.  There’s even a hint function that lets you view a small video clip on some topics to show you how to do it.

The save system in the game has also been revamped and simplified.  In Majora’s Mask on the Nintendo 64, there was a permanent save like in most games but also a quick-save that wasn’t permanent.  The quick-save has now been completely removed and now you can only save at owl statues placed around the world.
