Pokken Tournament Trademark Appears in Europe

Pokken Fighters

The Pokémon Company has filed a new trademark pertaining to Pokken Tournament, the Japan-only arcade fighter in Europe. As discovered by Neogaf, this new trademark filing follow on similar ones made in 2014. This time, additional information regarding NFC interaction was added, noting:

Near field communication (NFC) technology-enabled devices, namely, key chain tags, key chains, key fobs, key tags, key rings and key holders, and figurines, to facilitate the transmission and recording and exchange of video game content.

The Japanese arcade machine for Pokken Tournament uses NFC cards to store player’s save data, so a western version of the game could use a similar dongle.

Pokken Tournament, developed by the Tekken team at Bandai Namco, was released in Japan this past July. No word on a western release, or a home console port for Wii U, has been made as of yet.
