Nintendo Rejected Peach/Kirby/Star Fox Inclusion in Skylanders Superchargers

Nintendo made waves at E3 with the announcement that Donkey Kong and Bowser would make guest cameos in the upcoming Skylanders Superchargers from Activision. However, these two only represent a portion of the characters that were also considered. According to TheHDRoom, developer Vicarious Visions wanted extra characters such as Peach, Kirby and Star Fox, but Nintendo shot all of them down.

  • A Warrior Princess Peach was rejected as Nintendo barred all Mario “Hero” characters from inclusion. In addition, they felt Peach’s inclusion would be out-of-character.
  • Kirby was shot down because Hal Laboratory owns the rights to the character, not Nintendo.
  • As for Star Fox, because of Star Fox Zero‘s upcoming release, Nintendo didn’t want their inclusion to compete with the new entry. Star Fox Zero includes amiibo support.

The rest of TheHDRoom article covers more of the development of the new Skylanders/amiibo hybrids, including how Diddy Kong was ultimately relegated to the game’s vehicle mode. Donkey Kong and Bowser’s Skylander figures will be available on September 25th for Wii U and Wii/3DS versions respectively.
