Nintendo Furthers into F2P with Pokémon Shuffle

Not to be left out, the Pokémon franchise had some presence in today’s Nintendo Direct with a brand-new 3DS download game. Pokémon Shuffle, a match-three puzzle game similar to Pokémon Trozei, was announced for a February 2015 release. It will be free on the eShop, but there’s a catch…

You see, you’ll have to reduce the HP of wild Pokémon in a limited number of turns. There’s no time limit, so you’ll have plenty of time to decide a move ahead of time. Once you run out of turns, however, you’ll have to wait for 10 minutes, unless you pay real-world money or use in-game items to start right over. Mega Evolutions will also be included to aid in your matches, however.

The latest experiment in Nintendo’s F2P quest, on the same lines as Rusty’s Real Deal Baseball and Steel Diver: Sub Wars, will launch in February.
