Nintendo Denies Smartphone Software Rumor – ‘no plans’ To Offer Minigames On Other Hardware

Yesterday, a rumor stating that Nintendo planned to market its console games on smartphones and tablets arose on Japanese newspaper The Nikkei. This post of course contained no new information whatsoever and after the buzz caused by this rumor, Iwata has decided to reiterate his statement on not bringing his games to smartphones/tablets or marketing Nintendo’s console games in any way on those devices. Here’s what he had to say after Engadget got in contact with a representative of Nintendo:

“Nikkei’s article contains information previously stated by Mr. Iwata during past press conferences, including statements which relate to Nintendo’s willingness to make use of smart devices to promote our products. However during such past announcements Mr. Iwata has also stated that Nintendo’s intention is not to make Nintendo software available on smart devices and as such, we can confirm that there are no plans to offer mini-games on smartphone devices. “

So if you know anyone who still believes these rumors, let them know about Iwata’s statement! What do you think on Iwata’s decision to not do this? Let me know by dropping a comment!
