Nintendo Bringing Yo-Kai Watch to 3DS Worldwide 2016

As part of their Vision 2015 event, Level-5 confirmed what we’ve suspected all along: the Yo-Kai Watch video games will launch worldwide in 2016. Publishing duties will be handled by Nintendo, no doubt thanks to their relationship with Level-5 stretching back to the Professor Layton series on DS. According to the press release, Nintendo’s VP of Sales and Marketing Scott Moffit believes this franchise will appeal to virtually everyone.

With sales of more than 7 million units in Japan, YO-KAI WATCH is coming to the U.S., where a new audience will be able to experience this irresistible franchise for the first time. It doesn’t matter if you’re a kid, parent, fan or fan-in-the-making: Everyone will be won over by this charming game.

The localization announcement follows a bevy of Yo-Kai Watch news from Level-5, including a third game in the series and the multiplayer spin-off Yo-Kai Watch Busters. To date, Yo-Kai Watch has generated $1 billion in sales through Japan alone. Imagine, if the franchise takes off in the west, how many more billions it can make for Level-5.

While Nintendo is handling the publishing of Yo-Kai Watch next year, they did not issue a release window. To get an idea of the gameplay, check out the trailer for the first release from 2013. Let us know if you’re excited by the confirmed western launch of Yo-Kai Watch in the comments.
