Nintendo Bringing An Awesome Line-Up Of Games To San Diego Comic Con

Similar to a lot of big media companies, Nintendo will be appearing at this years San Diego Comic Con! The San Diego Comic Con is the biggest comic book convention in the world hosting over 130,000 people (in 2010). The convention is known for getting sneak peaks of comics, movies, TV shows and video games before they release, and that would explain Nintendo’s presence.

“Nintendo fans are going to have a great time with what we have planned for San Diego Comic-Con this year, whether they are attending the event or watching at home from across the country, from first hands-on opportunities to tournaments and a fun live stream, we want to make sure that everyone has a great time experiencing Nintendo at the show.” – Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing.

So you ask, What games will be featured in the Nintendo Gaming Lounge? Here’s a list:

For Wii U we have Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Hyrule Warriors, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Yoshi’s Woolly World, Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, Just Dance ’15, Skylanders Trap Team, Shovel Knight, 1001 Spikes and Guacamelee Super Turbo Championship Edition. For the 3DS we have Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, Pokémon Art Academy, Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal, THEATRHYTHM FINAL FANTASY CURTAIN CALL, Shovel Knight, and Siesta Fiesta.

Wow! That’s a lot of games! but alongside that, there will be a booth dedicated to the 3DS version of Smash Bros and a Tomodachi Life themed area where visitors can recharge their 3DS systems to get in all the convention street passes. One of the best things about this is that the Nintendo Gaming Lounge is located on the first floor of the Marriott Marquis & Marina hotel, that means fans who didn’t have a chance to get a pass to this years San Diego Comic Con will be able to try out these games anyway!

And that’s just the start of it!

All weekend (Starting July 25) Nintendo will be steaming tournaments and game play of awesome games from their very own Nintendo Gaming Lounge on their Twitch channel

Also of these games will have their own exclusive events:

Mario Kart 8:

If you visit the Nintendo Gaming Lounge you will get to compete in a large Mario Kart 8 tournament where 32 player mini tournaments will be played, the winner of those tournaments will go online to play against people from around the world! This will be done by Nintendo sharing the Mario Kart 8 tournament code at a later date.

Super Smash Bros. For 3DS:

Nintendo will be hosting tournaments for Super Smash Bros. For 3DS. This will basically be the same as the Super Smash Bros. For 3DS  at E3, but with a few changes. The first change is that this tournament will be the first one to be done on the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. The second change is that this time, fans will be playing. Nintendo will decide which fans will come on a first come first serve format, so if you want to compete be sure to be there bright and early. The whole tournament will be streamed on Nintendo’s Twitch channel

Bayonetta 2:

Unlike the other two exclusive events, this event will not be a tournament but it will instead be a film showing of FUNimation Entertainment’s film Bayonetta: Bloody Fate. The film is set to show Friday 25th July at 9:35 p.m. PST in Marriott Hall Room 4 at the Marriott Marquis & Marina hotel. You can check out the trailer for Bayonetta: Bloody Fate here.

So are you guys excited for the news coming out of San Diego Comic Con? Will you show up to any of these awesome events if you are around the area? Be sure to let us know in the comments below!
