HomeNewsNew Nintendo 3DS Launches in South Korea September 10th Alex Irish August 17, 2015 News This September, South Korea will join the ranks of regions that have the New Nintendo 3DS. The smaller variant of the New handheld line will launch in South Korea on September 10th for 188,000 Won. Along with the system, the package includes special edition Super Mario face plates and a pre-installed copy of Super Mario Bros. from the Virtual Console. The launch of the handheld in South Korea leaves North America as the only major territory without the smaller variant of the New 3DS line. Customers in the States only have the New 3DS XL to chose from since launching in February 2015. When asked about the decision, Nintendo of America’s Damon Baker argued that they want the choices available to consumers to be easy to understand. “We had to think about expanding the user base, we had to be able to market it and make it easy to pick up for consumers,” he said in an interview with Nintendo Life. Despite not launching in North America yet, FCC filings were discovered for the smaller New 3DS, leaving the chance that the handheld could launch here having undergone standard safety regulations.
