It was previously announced that three special Yarn Yoshi amiibo (in green, pink, and blue) will be made and are more plush than plastic, fitting the game’s soft and fuzzy theme. The Nintendo Direct in which those amiibo were revealed showed footage of those figures unlocking Double Yoshi, allowing a single player to play with two Yoshi’s on the screen at the same time. via technobuffalo.com A recent leaked photo of the packaging from Australia goes more into depth with overall amiibo compatibility. It appears that Yarn Yoshi not only lets you play as Double Yoshi but allows you to save one Yoshi design onto the figure. The Super Smash Bros. or Mario Bros. Yoshi will only unlock Double Yoshi; the design-saving feature is excluded. The packaging also states that “Mario, Luigi, Peach, and more” unlock Yoshi designs based on the corresponding character. Yoshi’s Woolly World for Wii U will launch on June 26 in Australia and June 25 in the United Kingdom. The North American release date has yet to be announced.
