Masahiro Sakurai Explains Character Mirroring in Smash Bros. 4

Smash Bros. Character Mirroring

In today’s Smash Bros. Pic of the Day, Masahiro Sakurai revealed that the leg and arm positions of certain characters will be mirrored regardless of which direction they’re facing. Sakurai mentions that this was quite a tedious task, but states that we can now see the “best features” of each character even better now.

Pic of the day. The leg and arm positions of some characters will automatically be mirrored when facing left or right. Mario, for example, will have his chest shown in the foreground regardless of whether he’s facing right or left. This was quite a tedious task, but thanks to it we can show the best features of each character even better.

Sakurai even provided Miiverse users and Nintendo fans with another example and explanation:

Smash Bros. Character Mirroring 2

Here’s another example: in the previous games, you saw the back of Kirby’s head when facing left. Now Kirby looks great from any angle.

This is great news because I’m sure that Smash players would prefer to see the faces of their fighters rather than their behinds this time around. Again the team shows us plenty of detail! What do you think? Do you prefer to see characters mirrored? What are your thoughts on the inclusion of this feature? You can let us know by leaving a comment below.
