Mario Maker for 3DS Could be On Its Way?

At E3, a new title for the Wii U had been announced, Mario Maker. This game allows players to drag and drop tiles from either the original Super Mario Bros. or New Super Mario Bros. U, and build custom levels and worlds in which they can play in themselves, or send to friends and have them play through the level.

Since the game’s reveal, fans have been asking for a 3DS version, as the game’s level building is done entirely using the Wii U Gamepad, something that could easily be replicated using the 3DS touch screen. In a recent interview by USGamer, the game’s producer, Takashi Tezuka had this to say on the concept;

Yeah, a 3DS version is possible. You’re the first person to ask about this! (laughs) I have thought about it. But right now we think it’s best for the Wii U Game Pad. I don’t know if a 3DS version would work the same exact way, but maybe if Mario Maker does well on Wii U and people really love it, I might consider doing something for 3DS. Right now, the Wii U hardware has a lot more power, so you can fit a lot more enemies and elements on the course. That’s why we prefer this hardware. But of course, I am interested in the idea of a portable version.”

As you can see a 3DS title of the game could be in the works soon! But let us know in the comments below on what you think of the concept and if you would like to see the game on your 3DS anytime soon!
