Major Super Smash Bros Content Update Hits July 31st

Nintendo’s Japanese Smash Bros. Twitter broke the news that the newly anticipated Super Smash Bros. update is hitting sooner than expected. The update that’s been expected to bring a Tournament Mode and YouTube uploads to the Wii U version goes live on Friday, July 31st worldwide. Tournament Mode will include rule-heavy Regular Tourneys and score-driven Community Tourneys, and both can operate at specific time frames.

In addition, new Mii Fighter costumes will be available for purchase. The three announced so far include costumes for Chrome and King K. Rool along with a Smash Hoodie. These are available to both Wii U and 3DS versions of Smash.

Finally, the retro N64 stages, previously seen in the June Smash Bros. Direct, will also be available. Players can purchase Peach’s Castle and Hyrule Castle for both the Wii U and 3DS versions.

Everything outside of the Wii U-specific updates will be paid DLC and available sometime on July 31st. Nintendo is still working on downloadable characters based on the Smash Ballot, where fans voted for the next wave of fighters, with the deadline of October 3rd fast approaching.
