HomeNewsKoei Tecmo Wants to Make Pokémon Warriors and Mario Warriors Jelani Thompson January 22, 2015 News Back in Autumn, Nintendo teamed up with Tecmo Koei to bring us the legendary crossover Hyrule Warriors, an action-packed sword-swinging adventure that merged the mystical Zelda universe with the gameplay found in the Dynasty Warriors titles. Sales for Hyrule Warriors soared through the roof, introducing many Nintendo fans to the Dynasty Warriors series. As a result, the team at Koei Tecmo suggests that more crossover Warriors titles aren’t out of the realm of possibilities. In a recent interview with Polygon, Vice President at Koei Tecmo Hisashi Koinuma stated that he believes game crossovers such as Mario Warriors and Pokémon Warriors could work. Here’s an excerpt. He sees Mario as a character that would need to branch out from hand-to-hand combat but could focus on his distinctive moves. Speaking hypothetically, Koinuma suggests Mario could “blast enemies off the screen or knock them unconscious” with his moveset. “I suppose the game would be balanced so the kids could enjoy it as their first action game experience, whereas the adults could enjoy the game with friends and families as a group,” he says. Additionally, the interview also revealed that Pokémon producer Juinichi Masuda was open to the idea of a Pokémon Warriors title. After all, he does have “big ideas” for the franchise in the future.
