HomeNewsIs There an Animal Crossing for Wii U in the Future? Alex Irish May 30, 2015 News, Rumor Producer Hisashi Nogami has just seen the release of his latest game Splatoon, but speculation on his next work has only just begun. A recent interview has been published on Engadget, where the topic was focused on Splatoon, but took a turn for Nogami’s other big franchise: Animal Crossing. When asked about the possibility of a new Animal Crossing on Wii U, Nogami had this to say: Well, that’s difficult for me to answer at the moment! Yup. That’s pretty much all we can say. What I will say is that you may have seen an announcement recently about an Animal Crossing product coming out on the 3DS… I can tack that on to the end of my response. His non-committal response comes right before E3, where Nintendo still has unannounced Wii U projects in the works. It has been three years since the last entry in the series, the critically-acclaimed New Leaf, launched in Japan (2012). The pattern for Animal Crossing has typically been three year waits in-between games, so now would be the right time for a new console entry. The franchise’s sole representation on the Wii U to date was the Animal Crossing Plaza, a hub for interacting with Miiverse. Perhaps it means nothing, or perhaps it means everything. We have naught but a few weeks to go until E3 begins, so take any rumors or speculation with a grain of salt for now. In the meantime, would you like to see a new Animal Crossing for Wii U?
