HomeNewsHere’s What To Expect From The Nintendo Switch Livestream Alex Irish January 6, 2017 News New details regarding the upcoming live stream for the Nintendo Switch console/portable hybrid have been pouring out of late. The event itself will commence live from Tokyo, Japan on January 12th at 1 PM Japan time (11 PM ET/8 PM Pacific), but now we have a greater sense of how it will all unfold. As translated by Nintendo Everything, Nintendo CEO Tatsumi Kimishima will be presiding the ceremonies at Event Hall 8 in the Tokyo Big Site (speaking in Japanese with English voice over for translations). The presentation has been noted to carry age restrictions, meaning software carrying an ESRB rating of M will likely be shown. For fans at the event and at home, live music concerts will be happening as well. Both a big band and a rock band (unnamed) will treat listeners to game music performances on LINE Live both Saturday and Sunday of the event, from 8 PM ET to 3 AM ET. As far as high-profile attendees, the wife of Monolith Soft’s founder Tetsuya Takahashi re-tweeted the event. Rumors that the studio is creating something for the Switch (but not the rumored port of Xenoblade Chronicles X) adds fuel to the re-tweet. Developer 1-UP Studio also shared their invite to the Switch event on Twitter. They were formerly known as Brownie Brown, the creators of Mother 3, and adding further credence to the rumors of a Mother 3 port to the Switch. Hands-on demo time for the public attending will happen on January 14th and 15th, seven hours long a piece. Video recording and photos will be allowed in the exhibition (save the stage shows), but close-up shots of game footage on the Switch controller is prohibited. My Nintendo users will be among the lucky few to have a chance to win early hands-on with the Switch thanks to a raffle. 10 winners will be chosen every day. My Nintendo users who attend the event in person can scan a QR code to check in. On the other hand, if you live in the US and in are in the New York area, the Nintendo NY store will be holding a Switch viewing party for the first 250 fans in line. Tickets will be given out at 8 PM and the event itself starts at 10 PM. The Nintendo Switch live event is happening next Thursday, January 12th, with a worldwide March release to follow.
