GAME Accidentally Ousts Shovel Knight Amiibo

British retailer GAME tweeted out the news that a newly-announced Shovel Knight amiibo will release on November 27th in the UK. The tweet was deleted shortly thereafter. This comes just ahead of PAX Prime and a promised “megaton announcement” from developer Yacht Club Games.

According to the listing, the Shovel Knight amiibo won’t work with Super Smash Bros. as many had predicted, but will work with other Yacht Club Games releases.

Yacht Club Games plans to demonstrate Shovel Knight’s upcoming Plague of Shadows DLC during the Nindies@Night livestream tonight, August 27th at 8 PM. They are expected to make their announcement during the stream.

This pre-mature announcement comes on the heels of a Spanish retailer listing a Shovel Knight amiibo last week. The art used on that site was fan-made, however, and differs from the final image in the GAME tweet. Yacht Club Games denied the listing’s authenticity, but said such an amiibo would be “cool to see”.

Pre-orders with GAME begin tomorrow for the UK. A North American release date is unconfirmed at this time.
