Four Ways to Snag the SSB4 Demo

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS is officially out in Japan as of tomorrow, September 13th, but here’s four ways you can experience the game before its western launch.

For starters, select Club Nintendo members that qualified for Platinum status between the dates of July 1, 2013, and June 30, 2014, may be emailed a 3DS demo code of SSM4 today. This demo sports unlimited plays, which is a whole lot better than typical Nintendo demos that run about 5 to 30 plays before expiring.

If you are one of these lucky members, you don’t receive just one code, but four–perfect for sharing with a few pals. The extra three codes are also unlimited, so feel free to duke it out with your friends in multiplayer mode as much as you like. Yeah, you only have access to Mario, Pikachu, Link, the Villager, and Mega Man, but beggars can’t be choosers, right?

Say you aren’t one of these extremely privileged people though–how can you play the demo? Well, you’ll have to wait a week when it goes live on the eShop September 19th. This version will be slightly different in that it is restricted to only 30 plays, which is sort of a bummer.

Lastly, if none of these options tickle your fancy, you’ll be able to swing by select retailers and take the in-store demos of Smash for a spin starting September 18th. Better than nothing, I suppose.

Fans don’t have to wait too much longer to get their hands on the whole enchilada though since Super Smash Bros. for 3DS hits retail and the eShop on October 3rd in both the US and Europe.
