Disney Infinity 3.0 Finally Confirmed: Star Wars & Others Join the Universe

After weeks of leaks and rumors, the latest installment of Disney Infinity has been officially announced. And as expected, it features new characters and play sets based on Star Wars, Inside Out, The Avengers, and introduces classics like Mickey and Minnie Mouse. And thanks to Game Informer‘s new cover story, we have a host of new details on the adventures ahead.

With Avalanche Games back in the saddle of development, the pack-in game (sighted previously thanks to retail leaks) will be crafted by Ninja Theory, entitled Twilight of the Republic. It sees Anakin and Ahsoka investigating the culprit of a droid army, set after Episode II. But if you don’t like the prequels, fear not for the “original trilogy” will represent with characters like Han Solo, Darth Vader, and Leia et al. launching as figures and their own play set, Rise Against the Empire.

As for other gameplay advances, Ninja Theory has done their part to fine-tune the timing and depth of combat. The Toy Box hub will get new features like tools to make a kart racer, an updated hub, and a new farming system. These tweaks are said to enhance all the previously released characters as well.

Naturally, Disney Infinity 3.0 will launch this fall across multiple platforms, including Wii U, for $64.99. And for fans of the game’s Power Discs, they will no longer be packed in blind bags as before. No release date has been specified, but it could be announced as early as E3 next month.
