HomeNewsCode Name: S.T.E.A.M. amiibo Functionality Revealed Trace Wysaske January 14, 2015 News Buried amongst the juicy tidbits of today’s beefy Nintendo Direct, it was revealed that Marth and company will be joining Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. via amiibo support. Check out this trailer Nintendo posted after the Direct to see the crew in action: The Fire Emblem characters will function a bit differently than regular party members as means of preserving their, for lack of a better term, Fire Emblemness. If one of these units falls in battle, they’ll be gone for good, or at least until you rescan the amiibo back into the game. This mechanic is a wink and a nod to the Fire Emblem series’ permadeath, although it’s a little more forgiving since the characters aren’t technically gone for good. Bullet dodged there, right? In other good news, Bill Trinen announced during the Direct that the currently-impossible-to-find Marth amiibo will be getting a reprint in the coming months. Maybe this time Nintendo will get the warrior prince’s traditionally pretty face right, but I wouldn’t get your hopes up. Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. for 3DS will storm store shelves March 13th.
