Check Out this Super Mario 64 HD Remake

Though it’s a seminal, beloved platformer, Super Mario 64 doesn’t get enough love from Nintendo. Although the current ways to play it include the Wii Virtual Console and a DS remake, fans have been clamoring for a high res remake for the last several years. Now, a group of fans (Aryoksini, mStuff, Callum Martin and Chadtronic) are working on such a reality, and their early work looks exemplary.

Through the efforts of Aryok Pinera, we have a proof-of-concept trailer for an unofficial HD remake. The official Facebook page makes it clear that all elements of the source game, including ” the rights for the music, characters, textures, maps, and more” are owned by Nintendo, so the team stands to make no profit on their efforts. Still, the efforts are impressive, almost passing for a project made by Nintendo itself.

No release date for the finished project was given, but you can keep up with the Facebook group for the remake, and in the meantime, we have this snazzy trailer.
