Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker Gets Amiibo Update March 20th, Uses All Amiibo

In January’s Nintendo Direct, we were given the promise that Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker’s amiibo support would be coming soon, resplendent with Pixel Toad showing up in every level to be found. While it was previously confirmed that the upcoming Toad amiibo would be supported, Nintendo has announced that all amiibo will in fact be compatible. And the patch for amiibo support launches on the same day the Toad figure arrives: March 20th.

Per Nintendo’s words, here’s what the patch will do:

Tap the Toad™ amiibo to the Wii U GamePad controller for a special hide-and-seek challenge in each stage.
Watch as Pixel Toad runs into the level and search through the level to try to find him.
Tap other amiibo figures and receive 1-UP Mushrooms.

Thus, Captain Toad’s amiibo support is similar to that of Hyrule Warrior, where every non-specific amiibo will unlock a helpful item. Get ready to unleash your amiibo’s 1-Up inducing powers in Captain Toad’s adventure come March 20th.
