HomeNewsBREAKING: Zelda Wii U May Slip Into 2016, Will Skip E3 Alex Irish March 27, 2015 News Many games have had a bad habit of slipping from their original release dates in 2015. It’s happened with Uncharted 4, Batman: Arkham Knight, and now Nintendo has joined the list. Despite being heavily anticipated since E3 2014, Nintendo uploaded an ominous video to announce that The Legend of Zelda Wii U is no longer shipping in 2015. As producer Eiji Aonuma explained, new ideas and possibilities prompted the delay to “make it the ultimate and most complete Zelda game”. More distressingly, the game will not make it to E3 at all this year, giving Aonuma and his team more development time. This kind of late delay is nothing new for the Zelda series. Back in August 2005, Twilight Princess was delayed into 2006. Nintendo said this was to make the game better, but it also was delayed to port it to the Wii’s launch. Could we be seeing a similar situation with Zelda Wii U and the NX? Bear in mind, this game has been worked on since 2013. Without Zelda for the holidays, Nintendo will need to bring out something big to fill in the gaping hole left behind. Are you disappointed by the Zelda delay? Let us know in the comments.
