HomeNews3DS Can be Used as a Controller for Smash Bros. for Wii U Maanav Goyal September 13, 2014 News The concept of using the 3DS solely as a controller has always been something many people desire, especially in the emulation community. Twitter user @FarmboyinJapan has posted an image showing that a 3DS can be used as a controller for Super Smash Bros. on the Wii U, for those who prefer the 3DS control scheme. The tweet can be seen here: Am I crazy, or does this say that if you connect your 3DS with your Wii U, that you can use your 3DS as a controller? pic.twitter.com/Cg4G7cjSYL — Kyle McLain (@FarmboyinJapan) September 12, 2014 Considering this image is in Japanese, we aren’t able to confirm this, or are we? The same image from the English version of the game has also arisen thanks to NintendoWorldReport, and it confirms two primary things. The 3DS can be used to control the Wii U version of the game, as well as that exchanging custom fighters from console to handheld will be possible. Nothing else has been confirmed yet beyond those two things. From this image it can be shown that the game’s will have a 3DS and Wii U connection screen on the proper consoles, allowing for the connection process to happen. What would be really interesting is if the 3DS version could be mirrored onto the GamePad, allowing players to play the 3DS version using the GamePad screen and controls. We will just have to wait and see. Let us know in the comments below what you think of this feature, and if any other functions should be available using it!
